With over 20 years in the industry, Jennifer Jones brings a wide network of contacts and experience to her work in film culture. Her background ranges from film festival direction, programming and curation to media consulting and public relations as well as university-level teaching in the area of film PR, curation and festival management.

As Head of PR at the Kölner Filmpresse & Service GmbH from 2013 to 2019, she was responsible for the theatrical releases (Germany) and publicity campaigns for more than 100 feature-length documentaries and feature films. Since February 2020, she has been heading public communications at KERN DES GANZEN – Agentur für Filmkommunikation in Cologne.

In her capacity as a film PR agent, she has worked with renowned companies from distribution, production and world sales such as Bildersturm Filmproduktion, CORSO Film, DOCDAYS Productions, farbfilm verleih, Florianfilm, gebrüderbeetz Filmproduktion, jip Film & Verleih, Lichtblick Film, mindjazz pictures, Netflix, Real Fiction Filmverleih, The Match Factory, Tondowski Films, unafilm and many more.

She has represented numerous directors, actors and protagonists during German theatrical releases and at international film festivals (e.g., Berlinale, Rotterdam, Munich, among others) including, Alba Rohrwacher, Angeliki Papoulia, Barbara Albert, Călin Peter Netzer, Clemens Schick, Daniel Hope, Domian, Fatoumata Diawara, Fredrik Gertten, Gottfried Böhm, Joachim Król, Joshua Weinstein, Leilani Farha, Maria Schrader, Maryam Zaree, Nicolas Philibert, Patricio Guzmán, Phie Ambo, Pia Marais, Rodrigo Gonzáles, Sabine Timoteo, Stefan Sagmeister, Syllas Tzoumerkas, Udo Kier, Ulrike Ottinger and Yuval Adler.

Jennifer served as Artistic Director and programmer for the International Women\’s Film Festival Feminale for 5 years and has led projects for the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, the German Film Institute (DIF), the EU Media Programme and the Federal Centre for Health Education in Germany.

For over 12 years she has been a member of the competition selection committee at the Cologne Short Film Festival (KFFK). Since 2022 she is a co-curator for the International Women\’s Film Festival Dortmund / Köln (IFFF) for their International Debut Film Feature Competition. At international film festivals, Jennifer has been invited to participate as a jury member and industry representative at e.g., the Sarajevo Film Festival, Seoul International Women’s Film Festival, One World Festival Prague, Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) and the European Media Arts Festival Osnabrück (EMAF).

Jennifer initiated and co-curated the first German retrospective with additional master class (with Albert Maysles) of the works of Albert and David Maysles in cooperation with the international film school Cologne (ifs) and the Arsenal Kino, Berlin. Further retrospectives include works by Lech Kowalski, Lynn Hershman Leeson, Maya Deren, Tony Buba and Nelly Kaplan, among others. Numerous film series and workshops were also realized through international cooperations, for example, with the Boston Museum of Art and the Goethe-Institut in New York City.

As a lecturer at the Institute for Media Culture and Theatre at the University of Cologne as well as the Institute for Media and Cultural Studies at the Heinrich-Heine University in Düsseldorf, she has developed practice-oriented courses in film festival management, curation and programming, film criticism and film publicity.
